When is the right time to move into the Business as Usual phase?
Once the Product Maturity phase is in full swing and software delivery is in a predictable state, the Business as Usual phase can begin. The exact timing of when to start this phase is up to you as the customer. The reason for this is that it requires an increased amount of involvement from you, like the forming of a like-for-like software development team and the provisioning of hardware and software to support the development process within your own company.
What steps are involved in getting to business as usual?
This phase starts with the forming of a like-for-like software development team. This team needs to be at the same or similar level of skill per role as the software development team from us. Additionally, the appropriate hardware and software environment to support the development process needs to be provisioned under your control. Once these two dependencies are in place, your software development team can start delivering features alongside ours until they reach predictability. This includes facilitating the support process with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. At this point, the Global Kinetic software development team can step away and you have successfully insourced low risk, high quality and predictable software delivery.
